Hair Restoration in Palm Beach, FL at MedClub by Dr. Jenn

Hair loss has more than one cause, which is why we don't rely on a single treatment for every patient. Dr. Jenn combines PRP scalp injections, topical and oral medications, injectable nutrients, and peptide therapy into a plan built around your specific pattern of hair loss, health history, and goals.

Why a Multi-Modality Approach?

Hair loss can stem from genetics, hormones, nutrient status, scalp circulation, or a combination of factors — which means no single treatment works equally well for everyone. Rather than offering one standard protocol, we evaluate your specific pattern of hair loss and build a plan that may combine several of the options below, adjusting over time based on your response.

PRP Scalp Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, concentrated to a higher-than-normal platelet count, and injected into the scalp. PRP releases growth factors that are believed to support blood flow to hair follicles and encourage them toward an active growth phase(1). Clinical studies have shown measurable increases in hair density following a series of PRP treatments compared to placebo(2).

PRP is generally well-tolerated since it uses your own blood, though as with any injection there are risks, including rare but serious complications reported in the medical literature(3). Results, when they occur, are typically noticed several months after treatment, and maintenance sessions are often recommended.

Topical & Oral Medications

Finasteride

Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone), the hormone primarily responsible for androgenetic (pattern) hair loss. Long-term studies show finasteride can slow hair loss progression and increase hair count compared to placebo over several years(4). Because it affects hormone levels, finasteride has been associated with sexual side effects (reduced libido, erectile difficulty) in a subset of patients, and some studies have raised questions about a possible link to mood changes and depression(5) — this is an important conversation to have with your provider before starting. Finasteride is not appropriate for women who are or may become pregnant.

Minoxidil

Topical minoxidil is FDA-approved for both men and women and works through a different mechanism than finasteride, generally by improving blood flow to the follicle and extending the hair growth cycle. Research shows minoxidil and finasteride used together produces better results than either medication alone, with a similar safety profile to using just one(6). Oral, low-dose minoxidil is also sometimes used off-label as an alternative for patients who don't tolerate the topical formulation well.

Injectable Biotin

Biotin is a B-vitamin involved in keratin production, the protein that makes up hair structure. We want to be transparent about the evidence here: biotin has been clearly shown to improve hair growth in patients who are biotin-deficient, but current research does not show a clear benefit for hair growth in patients with normal biotin levels(7). Biotin deficiency is uncommon but does occur, and injectable biotin may be a reasonable addition to your plan if a deficiency is identified or suspected — your provider can help determine whether this applies to you.

Peptide Therapy

Copper peptides (including GHK-Cu) are among the more studied peptides in this space, with laboratory and ex vivo research showing they can stimulate hair follicles into an active growth phase and support the follicle's surrounding tissue(8). Some research also suggests copper peptides may help counter the effects of DHT at the follicle level, though this area of research is still developing and most available data comes from laboratory studies rather than large human trials. Peptide therapy is generally considered a complementary addition to the treatments above rather than a standalone solution.

FAQ: Hair Restoration

Will my hair actually grow back? +

Many patients see improvement in hair density and thickness, particularly when treatment starts early and combines more than one approach. However, results vary based on the cause and stage of hair loss, and outcomes are not guaranteed for every patient. Your provider can give you a realistic picture of what to expect based on your specific situation.

How long before I see results? +

This varies by treatment type. PRP results are typically noticed several months after a treatment series. Finasteride and minoxidil generally take 3 to 6 months of consistent use before changes are visible. Because hair growth is a slow biological process, patience and consistency matter more than any single treatment.

How do you decide which treatments are right for me? +

During your consultation, Dr. Jenn will evaluate your pattern of hair loss, health history, and goals to recommend a combination of treatments most likely to help — this might be PRP alone, a medication-based approach, or a combination of several modalities. Your plan can be adjusted over time based on how you respond.

Important Safety Information +

Finasteride carries risks including sexual side effects and, in some studies, mood changes; it is not appropriate for women who are or may become pregnant. Minoxidil can cause scalp irritation or unwanted hair growth in adjacent areas. PRP injections carry standard injection risks (infection, pain) and rare but serious complications have been reported in the medical literature. Compounded medications and peptides referenced above are not FDA-approved. Your provider will review your complete health history to determine which treatments, if any, are appropriate for you.
